In the mood for a bite to eat? Well, belly up to the bar and wait until a nice tasty dish passes by – and then reach out and dig in! Talk about a “movable feast!”
Kaiten-Zushi – Conveyor-Belt Sushi!
Yes, it’s a well known food phenomenon – the conveyor belt sushi bar! They exist all across Asia, like the one I ate at in Tokyo, and they are also found in the US as well…
As you can see from this guy – everyone thinks that conveyor belts are a great, fun way to eat sushi – just let your favorites dishes glide by and grab some uni any time you want! I have eaten sushi this way in Tokyo many times and I love it!
The “Belt” Hits The Road!
But now, the conveyor belt isn’t just for sushi – “the belt” has gone to Paris! Yes, there is a restaurant that has taken the conveyor belt concept to heart, and that will no doubt have some Francophiles screaming:
“Sacre Bleu!”
RocketNews24 Delivers Again!
You know how much I love the folks over at “RocketNews24″ – they have the latest news, information and downright weirdness from Asia every single day – and now they have taken on Europe in the best way possible – by uncovering an amazing new Parisian bistro!
Behold The Paris Conveyor Belt French Bistro!
Wait, wait – WHAT?????!!?!?!?!?!?!
Yes, there is a french bistro in Paris serving classic french food on a conveyor belt! That’s right, no sushi here – instead, reach out for a handful of frites, or perhaps a nice magret de canard – Paris has gone “to the belt!”
It’s happening at “Medi Terra Nea” restaurant in Paris. According to RocketNews24, the chef was trained under legendary French Chef Joël Robuchon! And now, you can take all you have learned from your sushi conveyor belt and take it right to a nice duck confit!
Sacre Bleu!
So what exactly is going on here? Well, it’s not quite as radical as it sounds: as it turns out, RocketNews24 says that only appetizers and desserts come via conveyor belt at this time….
You order the rest of your meal directly from a waiter, who will bring it to your table – but as you can see, the setup of the restaurant is meant to evoke a classic conveyor belt! It’s an imaginative take on french bistro cuisine, and I love it!
I love the idea of turning bistro service “upside down”, and what’s more “upside down” than french cuisine served on a conveyor belt – after all, the image of a classic french restaurant will always, to me, look like this….
So I say “félicitations”!
Yes, “congratulations” to “Medi Terra Nea” for their innovative approach to dining – and once again, congratulations to “RocketNews24″ – where I found the story – you are going to want to read their entire review of this new food fad, including an in-depth look at the menu and some video shot at the restaurant as well!
